It's a Zine Thing!

Creator and co-editor Benjamin Reeves hawked zines and free candy at BICS yesterday. He only made a complete fool of himself a few dozen times.

Dear Readers,

We had a great time yesterday at the Brooklyn Independent Comics Showcase, hosted by St. Marks Comics and Industry City! It was a beautiful day on the waterfront, and it was awesome to chat with friends and readers in person (shoutout to Gena!!) and meet so many writers, artists, and new readers!

Speaking of new readers: Thank you for joining us on our journey into the world of the Distant Reaches!

We’ve got a lot of great things launching in the coming months, including more art from talented independent artists, serialized stories from our writing team, a new website, and a print magazine. If you have questions or just want to chat, feel free to write to me (ben@distantreaches.com) or co-editor Robert Frankel (robert@distantreaches.com).

Also, we rolled a couple of D20s, and the winner of our raffle yesterday is Joel Strong! Congrats!

Not only was the event a great opportunity to connect with people in the indie comics / science fiction / fantasy scene, but it was also our first foray into print! We published five zines of some of our favorite stories for the event (How to Raze A Family by

Andrew Sanford
; Black Powder Bind by Chris Diggins; Swimming in the Swamps of Love by
isabelle platt
; Blood of a Titan, Heart of a Mountain by
Nathaniel Lucas
; and City of Glass by yours truly).

We still have a few copies of each zine, so if you want to order one (one for $10 or three for $25, plus shipping), please reach out to editors@distantreaches.com, while supplies last.

Finally, our special BICS promotion (40% off new annual subscriptions) is running for a few more hours! Readers who upgrade to a new monthly or annual subscription by midnight, eastern time, April 24, 2023, will also receive a zine of their choice!

Get 40% off for 1 year

Enjoy the Distant Reaches.

Cheers,
Ben

P.S. Huge thanks to Mary Florence Sullivan for helping us table and for composing our tasteful and inviting table-scape!
